Why download from the official page
The official download page lists the current version, release date, and SHA256 fingerprint for the EXE and MSI builds. That lets you confirm the file is exactly what we published before you execute it.

Verify the installer (SHA256)
After downloading, run the certutil command shown on the Windows download page in PowerShell or Command Prompt. Compare the printed hash to the value we publish.
If the hash matches, you know the installer was not altered in transit or on disk. Then you can safely proceed past SmartScreen using “More info” → “Run anyway” if Windows still shows a reputation warning.
