VPN works worse on mobile data than on Wi-Fi
Mobile networks change radio quality, NAT, DNS, and routing as you move. A VPN can make those changes more visible because every packet depends on a stable tunnel.

快速答案
Run one test on Wi-Fi and one on mobile data with the same device, server, and time window. Record signal level, carrier, network mode, and whether Private DNS or battery optimization is active.
Read the mobile symptoms
Speed is only one metric. Packet loss, latency spikes, and handoffs between towers can feel worse than a lower raw download number.
Compare one variable at a time before changing app settings.
| Symptom | Likely cause | How to check | How to fix |
|---|---|---|---|
| Fast Wi-Fi, slow LTE/5G | Carrier route or weak signal | Repeat test in another location | Switch server or network mode |
| Drops after screen lock | Battery restriction | Keep screen on and retest | Exclude GhostMesh from battery optimization |
| DNS differs on mobile | Private DNS or carrier DNS | Test with Private DNS off once | Choose the DNS mode that matches your goal |
If the result is inconsistent
Run short repeated tests instead of one long test. Mobile networks can change conditions during the measurement.
If only one app is slow, check split tunneling and app-specific background restrictions.
